BLOOMFIELD -- Sylvia Lou Maddox Hurst, 77, died Dec. 31, 2012, at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Born Nov. 4, 1935, in Choctaw, Ark., daughter of the late George Landy and Sallie Jewell Robinson Maddox, she had lived in the Malden and Campbell areas before moving to Dexter in 1973 and then later to Bloomfield. She was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Dexter.
In 1949, she married Chester Buie who preceded her in death in 1953.
On Feb. 20, 1960, she married Earl Dean Powell, who preceded her in death March 16, 1996. In 2006, at Bloomfield, she married George A. Hurst who survives.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Scotty and Faye Buie of Malden; two grandsons, Shannon Buie of Campbell and Heath Buie of Salem; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donny Ray Buie, five brothers, Bill Dean, Billy George, John, Tommy and Bob G. Maddox, and three sisters, Loene Bradford, Wanda Sanders and Helen Redman.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday. Ken Franklin of Campbell will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
