Rams exact revenge on Oak Ridge

SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City Rams exacted a bit of revenge Wednesday night as they defeated Oak Ridge 65-40 at Scott City High School.

Scott City, who lost to the Blue Jays during the consolation championship of the seMissourian Christmas Tournament 61-55, was led by Jessie Sanders' 24 points. Ryan Brock added 21 in the win.

Ryan Below paced Oak Ridge with 14.

The Rams held a 37-27 lead at halftime after holding Oak Ridge to 12 points in the second quarter.

Scott City outscored the Blue Jays 30-13 in the second half to pull away for good.

Scott City (7-6) will host Chaffee on Friday.

Delta New Year's Tournament

Woodland 76, Delta 47

DELTA -- The host team of the Delta New Year's Tournament was ousted in the first round by Woodland, 76-47.

The Delta Lady Bobcats, the seventh seed, fell behind early in the game as Woodland charged out to a 25-8 lead after the first quarter.

Delta was looking up at a 40-16 deficit at the half.

Woodland's Josie Long led all scorers with 31 points. Lindsay Shell added another 16 for the second seeded Lady Cardinals.

Delta's leading scorer, Machela VanGennip, scored 29 in the loss.

The Lady Bobcats will play Oran at 5:30 p.m. today in the consolation semifinals. Woodland will play St. Vincent in the winner's bracket semis today at 8:30 p.m.

Saxony Lutheran 82, Puxico 16

The top-seeded Saxony Lutheran Lady Crusaders dominated their opening round game.

Saxony pounced on No. 8 Puxico early leading to an 82-16 win.

The Lady Crusaders were ahead 23-4 after the first quarter and 47-10 at halftime.

Brianna Mueller led Saxony with 19 points while Grace Mirly and Tess Daniel each added 11.

Puxico's Morgyn Nelson led the Lady Indians with six points.

Saxony will play Meadow Heights today at 7 p.m. in the winner's bracket semifinals while Puxico takes on Scott County Central at 4 p.m. in the consolation semifinals.
