Prep roundup: Eagles take down Saxony, Lady Hawks pound Caruthersville

JACKSON -- Oran senior Kody Moore scored 20 points as the Eagles grounded the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders Friday 68-50.

The Eagles held a slim 50-42 lead after the first three quarters and quickly ran away with it in the fourth. Oran outscored the Crusaders 18-8 in the final eight minutes.

Along with his 20 points, Moore shot 7 of 15 from the field including 3 of 9 from behind the arc. Moore also pulled down six rebounds.

Senior Alex Heuring added a double-double -- 16 points and 16 rebounds. Seth Ressell scored 14 points and had four assists.

Leopold 87, Risco 39

LEOPOLD -- The Leopold Wildcats scored 32 points in the first quarter to take a big advantage over Risco as the Tigers eventually fell 87-39 Friday.

Jordon Pavy led the Tigers with 15 points.

Joe Elfrink scored 22 of his 24 points in the first half while Kyle Stroder finished with 20.

Risco (4-5) committed 16 turnovers in the first two quarters which led to a big halftime lead for the Wildcats, 53-16.

Leopold kept pouring it on to start the second half outscoring Risco 22-9 in the third quarter.

Risco will host Clarkton on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Reportedly, Forshee, a scored 35 points and grabbed 22 rebounds.

EAST PRAIRIE -- Just a day removed from winning their second game of the season, the East Prairie Eagles fell to Bloomfield at home Friday 54-42.

The Eagles defeated Bell City by one point Thursday behind stellar performance from Damion Tipler.

Tipler, an athletic 6-4, 210 junior, recorded 25 points, 26 rebounds and 15 blocks for a triple-double.

BENTON -- The Kelly Lady Hawks made quick work against visiting Caruthersville Friday, 58-16.

Darbe Backfisch led the Lady Hawks (3-6) with 15 points. Morgan Ledure and Stephanie Worth scored nine and eight respectively.

Kelly ran out to a 22-3 lead after the first quarter and held a 49-8 advantage at the half.
