SIKESTON -- When residents purchase a box of Girl Scout cookies, they aren't just buying a tasty treat. Through funds raised, they're helping local girls gain leadership experiences and skills they may not otherwise have the opportunity to do.
The Girl Scout cookie-selling season began with an annual "cookie kickoff" Friday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston with over 100 Girl Scouts in attendance, according to Gabbie Hodgkiss, service unit manager for Girl Scouts Unit 772.
