Dexter edges Bloomfield, Risco takes down Clarkton 90-67

BLOOMFIELD -- After fighting neck-and-neck through three quarters of play on Tuesday the Dexter Bearcats handed the Bloomfield Wildcats a 52-48 loss.

The two teams went into the fourth quarter knotted up at 40-40 after playing within a point of each other in the first three quarters. It was in the final frame, however, that the Bearcats pulled ahead and outscored Bloomfield 12-8 for the win.

Chase Young had 16 points for Dexter, followed by DJ Dowdy and Brad Potts with 15 and 11 respectively.

Zac Goode's 13 points were a team-high for the Wildcats and Thomas Sanders added 10 to Bloomfield's cause.

DELTA -- Improving to 9-7 on the season the Scott City Rams defeated the Delta Bobcats on Tuesday 66-49.

The Rams came out to an 18-9 lead after the first quarter only to see it shrink to three points by halftime. In outscoring Delta 35-20 in the second half, Scott City was able to hold on for the win.

Ryan Brock had a game-high 27 points to lead the Rams with Delta's Dillon Lincoln finishing with 26.

Risco 90, Clarkton 67

CLARKTON -- The Risco Tigers stayed undefeated in the Tri-County Conference on Tuesday with a 90-67 win over Clarkton.

The Tigers trailed by three after the first quarter, but outscored Clarkton 23-9 in the final eight minutes of the half to take the lead. Another 31 points in the third frame gave the Tigers a 24-point lead heading into the fourth.

Jordon Pavy led Risco with 24 points, followed by Caleb McCord and Brandon Bixler with 21 and 20 points respectively. For Clarkton, Antron Jones had 25 points.

The win leaves the Tigers at 5-5 on the season and 2-0 in the conference.

Next up, Risco will travel to Campbell on Friday with action starting at 6 p.m.

On Saturday they'll participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. Shootout at 6 p.m. against Egyptian, Ill.

Christopher Lombeida paced the Bulldogs (2-6) with 14 points. Brad Key had 10.

Charleston 77, Delta 32

ORAN -- The top-seeded Charleston Lady Bluejays advanced to the semifinals of the Scott-Mississippi Tournament with a 77-32 win over eighth-seeded Delta on Tuesday.

Charleston scored a combined 47 points in the second half to take a comfortable 28-point lead into the break. The Lady Bluejays went on to outscore the Lady Bobcats 21-4 in the third to extend their lead to 45 points entering the fourth.

Sierra Frazier had a game-high 21 points for Charleston, followed by E'Neikqua Ewing with 12.

Machela VanGennip's 11 points were a team-high for Delta.

With the win the Lady Bluejays (8-3) move to play Oran tonight at 8:30 p.m. in the tournament semifinals at Oran High School.
