SIKESTON -- A St. Louis man and a Sikeston woman are in custody on numerous charges after an early morning robbery Tuesday in Sikeston.
Mark A. Stokes, 36, and Aundrea N. Thompson, 17, have been charged with Class A felonies of first degree robbery and first degree elder abuse; Class C felonies of felonious restraint and receiving stolen property; Class B felony of first degree burglary and unclassified felony of armed criminal action.
The arrests stem from an incident early Tuesday morning. Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers responded to a residence on Second Street in reference to an armed robbery. Upon their arrival, officers made contact with an 83-year-old female at her residence.
The woman told officers she was home around 7:30 a.m. when an unidentified female knocked on her door and asked to use her phone. The victim invited the female inside and at least one other male subject came inside with her. Once inside, the suspects shut the door and immediately began forcefully tying the victim up and placed her inside a closet in the home. The victim said that during the ordeal, the suspects threatened physical violence and she believed she would be seriously hurt if she didn't comply.
