CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Mattie Mae Moore, 83, formerly of Portageville, died Jan. 8, 2013, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Oct. 25, 1929, in Caruthersville, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Adams and Ever Lenar Washington.
Also preceding her in death in addition to her parents were, her stepfather Oblee Washington, one daughter, Evelyn Marie Mary Lee Saxton Hicks, one sister, Eunice Griggs, and one brother, Willie B. Nelson.
Survivors include: three sons, James Samelton of Colorado Springs, Colo., Hilyard Winters Jr. of Portageville and Isom Winters of Cape Girardeau; nine daughters, Willie Beatrice Watson of Cape Girardeau, Angela Adams and Patricia Hamilton of Houston, Jan Saxton Holmes of Portageville, Mattie Mae Thomas of St Louis and Rose Mary Smith, Sheila Winters, Ever Lenar Winters and Virginia Ada Poindexter of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Isom Nelson of Colorado Springs and Sylvester Veasley of Chicago; 54 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Saturday at the Temple of God's Glory Church with the Rev. Paul Neal officiating.
Burial followed in the Portageville Cemetery.
