Portageville drops South Pemiscot, Tigers pound Campbell

PORTAGEVILLE - The Portageville Bulldogs outscored the South Pemiscot Bulldogs by 11 points in the first quarter and never trailed after on its way to a 65-49 Bootheel Conference regular-season victory Friday night.

Portageville shot 49 percent from the field. Portageville hit 3 of 9 3-pointers and 20 of 38 2-pointers.

South Pemiscot shot 46 percent from the field. South Pemiscot was 1 of 10 from 3-point range and hit 18 of 31 2's.

Logan Carter led South Pemiscot with 12 points. Seth Harris scored 11 points for South Pemiscot.

A.V. Banks hit two of Portageville's three treys on his way to a team-high 16 points. Dion Foster and Dominique Walker each scored 15 points for Portageville.

Portageville (6-7) improves to 1-3 in Bootheel Conference regular-season play with the victory.

South Pemiscot (11-6) drops to 1-3 in Bootheel Conference regular-season play with the loss.

Portageville is back in action Tuesday when it visits Senath-Hornersville.

South Pemiscot will play at Kennett Tuesday.

Risco 83, Campbell 41

CAMPBELL -- The Risco Tigers got back over the .500 mark on the season Friday while staying undefeated in Tri-County Conference play on Friday with a 83-41 win over Campbell.

Caleb McCord had a game-high 18 points with four 3-pointers to help the Tigers push out to a 45-15 lead entering halftime. Risco outscored the Camels 38-26 in the second half to make up the final.

Austin White and Jordon Pavy both had 15 points in the contest with Matt Cumins adding 14 points to the Tiger's cause.

Risco now stands at 6-5 on the year and 3-0 in the conference as they get set for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Shootout Saturday in Meridian, Ill, where they play Egyptian, Ill., at 6 p.m.

PERRYVILLE -- Led by Seth Ressel's 17 points, the Oran Eagles took a 12-point lead into halftime Friday before defeated St. Vincent 64-46.

Oran outscored St. Vincent 16-10 in the first quarter before tacking another six points on to their lead in the second frame to go into the half up 29-17. By the time the fourth quarter hit, the Eagles' lead grew to 19 points as they easily held on for the win.

Ressel's game-high 17 points came while shooting 6 of 16 from the floor, including a pair of 3-pointers.

He added four rebounds and two assists to the Eagles' cause.

Second on the team was Chance Tenkhoff with 15 points and four rebounds while Kody Moore contributed 13 points, four rebounds and five steals.
