FENTON -- The Sikeston wrestling team took ninth place during the 141 Rumble at Rockwood Summitt High School Saturday in Fenton.

Cody Middleton (126) and Nick Nichols (195) each took second place in their respective weight classes. Middleton, who's been sidelined after a three week injury, finished Saturday with a 4-1 record while Nichols went 3-1.

The Bulldogs went without five varsity wrestlers needing to fill their injured spots with five freshman.

"I think we wrestled better than Wednesday, but need to continue to improve," Sikeston wrestling coach Chris Lowe said. "We wrestled with five freshman in our varsity lineup, filling in for injured wrestlers. I'm very proud of our young kids for stepping in and giving great effort."

Sikeston will take part in the SEMO Conference tournament Friday and Saturday at Poplar Bluff High School.
