ESSEX -- Bobby Earl Kleffer, 81, died Jan. 13, 2013, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born March 8, 1931, in Flint, Mich. son of the late John Steven Kleffer and Nola Mae Kleffer, he and his family later moved to Essex. He owned a gas station in Dexter and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education. He was a teacher in the Richland School District for 25 years, and retired in 1991. He also owned and operated a farm at his home near Essex. Bob was a founding member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter for many years.
On Oct. 25, 1958, he married Imogene Laverne "Jean" Bledsoe, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Steve Kleffer of Essex; one daughter, Nola Ledbetter of Holts Summit; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Lonnie Mittag officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
