NMCC throttles Dexter 52-28

NEW MADRID -- The New Madrid County Central Eagles jumped out to a quick start and never looked back during their 52-28 win over Dexter Friday at New Madrid County Central High School.

The Eagles took a comfortable 17-7 lead after the first quarter which extended to 22 points (35-13) by halftime.

Willie Jimerson lead the Eagles with 14 points on the night. Delontre Haney chipped in 10.

For Dexter, DJ Dowdy scored nine points to pace the Bearcats.

Holcomb 56, Risco 51

RISCO -- A late turnover and made free throws from Holcomb during the waning seconds cost the Risco Tigers a chance at an upset Friday as Holcomb won 56-51.

Risco's Jordon Pavy led all scorers with 19 points.

The Tigers (8-6) led 44-38 entering the final quarter, but found themselves down by one with 35 seconds remaining. With a chance to either tie or take the lead, the Tigers committed a turnover giving Holcomb a chance to ice the game at the free throw line.

Holcomb, who was led by Jamie Massey's 17 points, did just that.

Risco played Hayti Saturday on the campus of Three Rivers College at 5 p.m.
