BONNE TERRE -- Billy Joe "B.J." Edwards, 30, died Jan. 20, 2013, in Park Hills.
Born Dec. 6, 1982, in Poplar Bluff, son of Calvin Edwards of Bloomfield and Billie Kaye Edwards of Park Hills, he graduated from Bloomfield High School and was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he received the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon (Iraq), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation-Navy, Rifle Qualification Badge (Expert), and Pistol Qualification Badge (Expert).
Survivors include: a daughter, Kamryn Mae Edwards of Bloomfield; three brothers, Cody Gene Edwards and Johnny White of Bloomfield and Bradley Travis Young of Marion, Ill.; two sisters, Amanda Mautino of Lee Summit and Jessica White of Bloomfield; his grandmothers, Louise Toppins of Vulcan and Betty Edwards of Bloomfield; and a stepmother, Johnna Edwards of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William Toppins and Ernest Edwards Jr.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Dan Sitze officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
