HAWAII -- Michael T. Harlan, 27, died Jan. 13, 2013, in Hawaii.
Born March 31, 1985, in St. Louis, to Michael M. and Debra A. Dougherty Harlan of Gray Ridge, Mo., he had lived in Gray Ridge all his life. He graduated from Richland High School and Southeast Missouri State University. He was an active member of the U.S. Army and had just enlisted for the second time.
On March 16, 2012, in Prague, Czech Republic, he married Monika Vankova, who survives of Hawaii.
In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include: one brother, Tommy J. Harlan of Gray Ridge; three sisters, Melody Sherfield of Gray Ridge, Diane Bardol of Jackson, Mo., and Deedra Gardner of Mesa, Ariz.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo.
Graveside services with full military rites will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. A chaplain of the U.S. Army will officiate.
