COLUMBIA -- James Louis "Jim" Freshour, 85, died Jan. 5, 2013, at South Hampton Place in Columbia.
Born Jan. 11, 1927, in Greenville, to the late James Everett and Lydia Bounds Freshour, he grew up in Lepanto, Ark., before he and his family moved to Salcedo. He graduated from Morehouse High School and was a self-employed farmer in Oran and Callaway County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a sergeant during the Korean War. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church in Hatton and served on the board of several organizations.
On May 4, 1952, in Fulton, he married Edna Mae Laux who preceded him in death July 16, 2007.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jeanne Kay Freshour of Kingdom City; one brother, Jerry Freshour of Sikeston; and one sister, Joyce Freshour Gossett of Hayti.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Hatton with the Rev. Terry Lippstreu officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Cemetery.
