DEXTER -- Edward Albert Boyt, 80, died Jan. 22, 2013, at his home.
Born Oct. 14, 1932, in Dexter, to the late J.H. and Marie Linnemann Boyt, he was a graduate of Dexter High School and Southeast Missouri State University. He taught art and shop classes in Bloomfield and Dexter. He was the company commander of C Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Calvary, First Calvary Division in Vietnam. In 1966, he was transferred into military intelligence. He retired from active duty in 1981 and became a watercolor artist.
He is survived by: two daughters, Jennifer Wheeler of Bella Vista, Ark., and Anna Marie Irons of Tucson, Ariz.; one son, Andrew Boyt of Tucson; two brothers, Carl Barker of Ballwin and Charles Barker of Overland; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Charlie Kruse and Tom Thrower officiating.
The Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
