NEW MADRID - With the 2013 budget in place, the New Madrid County Commissioners are prepared for the worst but are expecting the best.

New Madrid County's total 2013 budget shows expected revenue of $9,771,167.35 while expenditures are forecast at $10,647,158.75 for the coming year.

The General Revenue Fund, which covers much of the operation costs of the county offices along with building maintenance and employee benefits and insurance, began the year with $3,347,101.12 on hand, up by $3,880.38 from Jan. 1, 2012.

The 2013 revenues to the General Revenue Fund are estimated at $5,190,048.50 with expenditures of $5,620,323.78, producing a deficit of $430,275.28 for the year.

However, County Clerk Clement Cravens doesn't foresee dipping into the county's reserves.
