POPLAR BLUFF -- Don W. Smith, 90, died Jan. 24, 2013, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 19, 1922, in Morehouse, to the late Lawrence and Myrtle Maddox Smith, he was a longtime resident of Butler County and was a member of the Cornerstone Tabernacle Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II.
On Aug. 24, 1944, he married Anna Moore, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Gary Smith and Larry Smith of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Louise Britton of Sikeston; one brother, Bobby Smith of O'Fallon; two sisters, Erma Wilson of Morehouse and Dorothy Peel of Desha, Ark.; and five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Janet Parker, Pansy McNeese, Regina Yets and Lily Hughes.
Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cornerstone Tabernacle Church with the Rev. Bryan Parkey officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
