SIKESTON -- Catholic schools are gearing up to celebrate their faith, academics and service through a weeklong celebration.
Observed this year beginning Sunday and through Feb. 2, Catholic Schools Week is a joint project of the National Catholic Educational Association and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Schools typically celebrate Catholic Schools Week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and the community at large.
"It's a time we can come together as a school community, and our parish is always invited to the events," said Debbie Pollock, principal of St. Francis Xavier School in Sikeston. "Kids can see and do service for others while having a good time doing it."
