NEW MADRID -- James E. Barbre, 80, died Jan. 26, 2013, at his home.
Born Sept. 8, 1932, in LaForge, to the late Goldie Summers Barbre and Fred Barbre, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a corporal during the Korean War. He was a member of the New Life Assembly Church in New Madrid and the American Legion Post No. 595.
In February 1956, in Hernandez, Miss., he married Ruby F. Hardin, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Stephen Barbre and James W. Barbre of New Madrid; two daughters, Erma Maxwell and Debra Aters of New Madrid; three sisters, Martha Morris, Betty Mowery and Ravenna Grissom of New Madrid; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: five brothers, George Barbre, Jimmy D. Barbre, Eddie Barbre, Harold R. Barbre and Richard L. Barbre; and three sisters, Linda S. Baulicko, Carol Barbre Wilson and Hazel Horton.
Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Sutton officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion.
