NEW MADRID -- Helen Tollison, 91, died Jan. 26, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center following an illness.
Born Jan. 3, 1922, in rural New Madrid County to the late Roy and Eunice Rhodes, she had lived in New Madrid her entire life and was a longtime member of Kewanee Missionary Baptist church, and worked several years in New Madrid at the Head Start and ABC Play Skool.
On Dec. 24, 1939, in La Forge, she married William T. Tollison, who preceded her in death.
In addition to her husband and parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Linda Tollison of New Madrid and Jimmy and Becky Tollison of Alma, Ark.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sondra and Kenneth Faulkner of New Madrid, Linda and Duaine Collier of Kewanee and Paula and Bobby Maupin of Nashville, Tenn., as well as Pat and Glenn Hessling of Sikeston; one brother Scrogg Rhodes; three sisters Louise Poyner, Violet Porter, and Betty Corgan; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Monday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid. Steve Francis and Dan Wisely will officiate.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
