BENTON -- The Scott County Commission will have a better idea Thursday of how to proceed with a planned move of the county communication center.
Commissioners met with Dale Rogers, president of Robert Stearnes and Associates Inc. Architects in Sikeston, during their regular meeting Tuesday to discuss specifications general contracting firms will soon bid on.
Presiding Commissioner Jamie Burger said being able to look over the specs Tuesday "brings us up to speed before the pre-bid meeting."
The pre-bid meeting for potential bidders is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
The proposed project involves construction on the second floor of the Scott County Jail to make a new county communications center.
"We're taking the 911 dispatch center and moving it from the main level to upstairs in a completely unfinished open area," Burger said.
In addition to finishing interior walls and floors in an area for dispatching in the space upstairs, the project would also include building an expanded information technology equipment room, a heating and cooling system for those areas, restroom facilities and sinks and replacing the fire protection sprinklers in the IT room with a clean agent fire protection system.
Bidders will also be asked to name a price for replacing the sprinklers in the dispatching area with a clean agent fire protection system.
