Grandpa didn't approve

I recently went to New Madrid County High School to pick up my granddaughter. I was just wondering if they have a dress code there. It seems to me the administration needs to talk to their employees, mainly their secretaries, about what they are wearing to school. It's very unprofessional. I think it would probably be in their best interest because the image they are portraying is not very good.

No way

This is in response to the person who said if the school bond issue passes "local firms" will be used to construct the new buildings. That remains to be seen but I am doubtful. Also, the same person said that "property values will increase with new schools." Yeah, that's just what we need -- increased property taxes on top of increased school taxes. My pocketbook will be voting NO WAY!!

Sticking it to the voters

Way to go, Jensen, in calling out the liberal left for praising someone convicted for voter fraud as a hero. That is like praising a rapist as a champion of women's rights.

Annie blew me away

This weekend I attended a performance of "Annie Get Your Gun" at the Sikeston Little Theatre. Wow, I was amazed. It was evident that a lot of hard work went into this play. Thank you, Sikeston Little Theatre and everyone involved in this production for providing the young people of this area with a venue in which to display their fantastic talent. Again, they were amazing.

It's a yes for me

I'm calling about "Sikeston is not Cape" in SpeakOut. We are not trying to be Cape or be like Cape. But we are trying to be the best that Sikeston can be and that does mean good schools. As far as elderly people in fixed incomes, if your income is under a certain amount the state takes care of part of this by reimbursing your tax expenditures. And in regards to landlords owning lots of property, these properties may go unrented if the Sikeston school bond issue fails and people with children actually move to other communities rather than locate in Sikeston. I, for one, am for the bond issue. I am a retiree, a senior and on a fixed income. I can do without some things to improve our schools and continue with good schools for the future.

I say no

Vote no on 1/5 increase on our property taxes so Sikeston can build another monstrosity of a school when they have plenty of school buildings! I am taxed to death. Period.

Everybody should pay

Make no mistake, I'm for good schools too. It does seem that there could be a little put away each year instead of so much all at once. Seems like everyone with kids in school that don't pay taxes should have to pay a little every year too, instead of just the taxpayers. They always vote yes, of course.

Nice one

This is in response to "Don't be cruel." I love you. You must be a really nice person to put that comment in the paper.
