SPEAKOUT

Unaffordable

I would like to speak out about the Sikeston school bond issue. Sikeston cannot afford this large a tax increase on our property and automobiles and our personal property unless you are a doctor, a doctor's wife or a big shot businessman. We need some people on our school board that have some common sense and that are common working people to know what we can afford. I'll be voting no.

Right time, wrong place

I keep reading in SpeakOut about complaints of people parking in handicapped spaces. I'd like to make a complaint myself. The other day I saw a handicapped guy parking in one of our spaces.

Really? This is what you want to complain about?

Stay out of bars

I saw on the news where we had another shooting at a bar. The boy got shot in Charleston after they supposedly had a party. If people would keep their behinds out of bars and quit having drunken parties and stuff, if they would have to check their guns when they go into a place. How in the world are they gonna know if they have a concealed weapon if they don't check to see? Keep your behinds out of bars. You're probably spending money you don't have anyway. That's all they're good for. When you go in one, most likely someone is gonna have a gun, they've been feuding with someone and it's going to get out of hand.

Same story, different year

In response to "Wise to vote yes," if you know anything about business before locating in town they will check out unemployment percentage and welfare. That tells them if it's a working community or not. This town is full of people that think it's alright to be 15 minutes late for work everyday, tell their employer that they can only work three days a week because it will cutback on their government checks and draw disability for their back. They can climb in and out of jacked-up trucks, ride motorcycles and four-wheelers. But if they work, they want cash. Last but not least, remember voters, the same people in 2005 on the Math and Science are saying the same things now. We are down 342 students. The only difference will be higher taxes that you will pay for 20 years.

Not America's business

Good morning, Americans. I have two issues with our federal government. This starts at the top with President Obama and the rest of his following idiots in Washington. By sending money, troops and vessels to Africa by this so-called human drug lord or whatever you want to call him and the Malaysian airline. If you can find money and can spend all this time over there, you got money and time to spend on Americans. We have enough foreign individuals in our country that you can take care of without running all over the world and babysitting everybody else's problems. People, this is not an American situation. It is not our situation that is going on in Africa, Malaysia, Russia. Sure, we have interests, but our government has stuck its nose into a lot of things that it don't need to be a lot of times. I'm an American, I'm a Marine, Semper Fi till I die.

Down on getting high

I get so tired about hearing legalizing marijuana. I understand that some people it can help relieve pain, but there will be so many getting it if they legalize it for recreational use, everybody will be standing around high. It's ridiculous. They need to get on things that really matter, not legalizing marijuana. Get these old gals off welfare. They sell their food stamps and everything else to get marijuana and drugs and alcohol. Take alcohol out of the stores. We don't need alcohol in stores, there's alcohol in bars. Let them go there if they want to drink. It's just ridiculous.
