Adoption helps families

In 2007, there were only 18,000 adoptions of babies in the United States. Only one percent of the nation's 1.7 million unwed births or about one percent of the 1.2 million abortions that year. Women should know that there are different kinds of adoptions, such as open adoptions where you can be in control and be involved if you want to be. There are many couples unable to have babies of their own. Pregnancy resource centers that help young women are saving many babies' lives, forming new families and saving young women lifelong remorse.

What goes in, don't come out

I have a neighbor that does not clean his backyard. It is just like a vacuum cleaner, anything that goes in is gone and will not come out of the yard. We had some strong winds last night and it blew some siding off his house and a big piece of card board on the porch. They walk by it every day and it is left in place. At one time the house was a pretty nice looking house. I know in a year or two, it will look like a shack. Oh by the way, I live on Missouri Avenue.

I'm a crazy Democrat

This is for your March 28 speakout, Back off Barack. I am one of the crazy Democrats. All I can say is the one that responded to this statement, which is probably Mike Jensen, if not, one of his little clones. If they can do the math and would put stuff in properly, you would find out that Missouri is one of the richest states in the nation. They have millions in excess because they don't spend any money. As far as money leftover for education, it's not gonna happen unless you're rich. Us poor people, we cannot get an education. I'm one of those crazy Democrats. As far as the Medicaid expansion, yes, some people abuse it but 99 percent of the people need the help. Maybe someday you will be in the position where you need help and there won't be any for you. But you were probably born with a silver spoon in your mouth and eating off a silver platter.

I don't steal from Jesus

This is to the person in Morehouse who used to hang around with other people that accused me of stealing from a small church. You know who you are. You got the word around and I just recently found this out. I want to point out that I am not a thief and I am not a liar like you are. I do not steal. I don't have to steal. I don't steal, especially from Jesus Christ. I'm not exactly mad, but I'm a little perturbed. I am gonna pray for you. I'm not a thief okay? You need to rectify this.

Know your city laws

To the person who called in about keeping cats up and said that city law says you have to have them on a leash. They need to go online and go to Sikeston.org, look up the city code and look up section 205.100. All it says is that no person should not allow any dog to run at large. There's no leash law for a cat in the city of Sikeston. Also look at 205.530, if they put poison out to kill any animal - dog, cat, bird or any animal - that is against the law whether it is on private property or public property. So read your law before you spout off in SpeakOut what the law says you can or can't do.

Smoking?

Mike I would like to know if the local high schools allow tobacco products to be used by the students. I can sure see football players smoking on the sidelines while they are waiting for the plays to be played. In the middle 90's a retiring 6'8" basketball player at a school just north of Sikeston had to make a choice, either chew or smoke or don't play ball. I'm proud of the coach.
