SIKESTON -- A Sikeston woman has been charged with the murder of a Sikeston man on Thursday night.

According to a news release from Captain Jim McMillen of Sikeston DPS, Savannah R. Davis, 27, was charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action and is being held on a $100,000 cash only bond.

The arrest stems from an incident that began Thursday night when John Sharber, 57, was dropped off at about 12:30 a.m. Friday at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with injuries from blunt force trauma. He was by himself when he was found outside the hospital. Sharber was later transferred to a St. Louis hospital where he died from his injuries that occurred in the incident.

According to a release from Sikeston DPS Captain Jim McMillen, Sharber's wife told police her husband was going to Wal-Mart in Sikeston when he left their home Thursday evening. DPS found the man's vehicle on the Wal-Mart parking lot Friday morning.

After further investigation, it was found Sharber was assaulted on Wal-Mart parking lot at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday. Using Wal-Mart's surveillance video to help identify Davis as the offender, DPS was able to search for the her and her vehicle.

At about 11:15 p.m., Sikeston DPS located Davis with the help of the Blytheville, Ark., Police Department. Shewas found in a residential neighborhood in Blytheville and taken into custody. She remains in custody awaiting extradition.

Sikeston DPS Director Drew Juden said the assistance between several agencies and law enforcement professionals helped lead to a quick resolution. These organizations include Cape Girardeau PD, Missouri State Highway Patrol, New Madrid County Asst. Pros. Andrew Lawson, New Madrid County Coroner George Delisle and the Blytheville Police Department.
