On Sept. 27 over 600 students from across southeast Missouri competed through a blind audition for spots in the All-District Honor Choir. The audition process requires each student to sing a solo for three judges and then to sight sing in another room. The sight singing process requires students to know the major keys, as well as sing two pieces that they have never seen before -students are judged on their ability to sing correct pitches and rhythms, according to Abraham Leach, SHS choir director. Of the 30 students who auditioned from Sikeston High School, 12 students were selected. Those who are juniors and seniors will go on to audition for All-State Choir, Leach said. Pictured are some of the students who qualified for the All-District Honor Choir from SHS.
