Sikeston grad earns nursing scholarship

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Denisha Blacher has received the St. Joseph Hospital Nursing Scholarship at Baptist College of Health Sciences for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Blacher, a graduate of Sikeston High School in Sikeston, Mo., is the daughter of Harry and Lessie Bonner-Blacher of Cordova.

The St. Joseph Hospital Scholarships were established by the Sisters of St. Francis Health Services Inc. in honor of the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing alumni. St. Joseph Hospital has trained more than 2,000 nurses from 1918 to 1998, when it closed its doors as part of a merger between St. Joseph Hospital and the Baptist Memorial Health Care system.

The college, established in 1994, offers a Bachelor of Science in nursing and Bachelor of Health Sciences with majors in biomedical science, diagnostic medical sonography, health care management, medical radiography, medical laboratory science, nuclear medicine technology, nursing, radiation therapy technology and respiratory care.
