Sikeston Public Schools Foundation announces SHS students of month

SIKESTON -- Kaitlyn Paige Ayers and Zachary Samuel James Grady were named Sikeston High School Students of the Month for August.

Sikeston Public Schools Foundation, which sponsors the monthly program, names a male and female senior each month. Character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastic ability are criteria used to select one "Student of the Year" at the end of the 2014-2015 school year. Ayers, who is the daughter of Kendall and Elizabeth Ayers, is the president of the National Honors Society, Link Crew and Junior Optimist Club member, Scott County 4-H secretary and percussion section leader for the marching band and symphonic band. Her hobbies include horseback riding, reading and baking.

The son of Samuel and Shelia Grady is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, Speech and Debate, Link Crew, FBLA, Junior Optimist Club and Bums. Grady works as a pharmacy technician at Walgreens.

SEPTEMBER

Elizabeth Anne Blanton and Joshua Paul Eifert were named Sikeston High School Students of the Month for September.

Blanton, who is the daughter of Amy and Kevin Blanton, is a varsity cheerleader and in the top 10 percent of her class. She is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, Future Teachers of America (district and chapter president), Key Club, Link Crew, Red Peppers and DECA. Her hobbies include cheerleading.

Eifert, who is the son of Ronald and Tammy Eifert Jr., is the president of Key Club and a member of the National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions and orchestra. He received a Gold Cup at the Junior Music Festival and works at the iPad Student Help Desk. He is also a member of Boy Scouts Troop 4041 and an Eagle Scout. His hobbies include computer and writing computer code.

OCTOBER

Kylie Nichole Ritter and Colton Stephen Hampton were named Sikeston High School Students of the Month for October.

Ritter is the daughter of Mike and Rachel Ritter. She is a cheerleader and member of Red Peppers, Future Teachers of America, Key Club, National Honor Society and the top 10 percent of her class. She listed cheerleading as her hobby.

Hampton, who is the son of Steve and Wissie Hampton, plays baseball, football and basketball. He is a member of Student Council, Bums, band, National Honor Society, DECA, Junior Optimist Club and the top 10 percent in his class. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, kayaking, photography and sports.
