2 SHS students honored

SIKESTON -- Maggie Shepherd and Sebastian A. Matos were named Sikeston High School Students of the Month for November.

Sikeston Public Schools Foundation, which sponsors the monthly program, names a male and female senior each month. Character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastic ability are criteria used to select one "Student of the Year" at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.

Shepherd is the daughter of Angie and Matt Shepherd. She participates in softball and is a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, Link Crew and Junior Optimist Club. Her hobbies include softball and painting.

Matos is the son of Luis and Cindy Matos. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Link Crew, marching band and Bums. He plays baseball and football and is the Robotics Club head engineer. He is also in the top 10 percent of of his class. His hobbies include music and playing the drums and guitar.
