Sikeston seniors are recognized for service, scholarship

SIKESTON -- Natalie Sue Regenold and Fred Howell Thornton IV were named Sikeston High School Students of the Month for February.

Sikeston Public Schools Foundation, which sponsors the monthly program, names a male and female senior each month. Character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastic ability are criteria used to select one "Student of the Year" at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.

Regenold is the daughter of Tim and Terry Regenold. She plays softball and is involved in marching, symphonic and jazz band. She's the president of Band Council. She's also a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, Link Crew, DECA, Barker staff, Robotics and Red Peppers. Her hobbies include her church youth group, music, dance and writing.

Thornton, who is the son of Fred Howell Thornton III and Nanette Thornton, is a member of Key Club, National Honors Society, varsity football and varsity golf team. His hobbies include playing golf and video games, reading, working in the yard and bowling.
