Sikeston teen earns his Eagle award

SIKESTON -- Fourteen year old Christopher Palmer completed a service project for the Recreation Complex in Sikeston to help earn his Eagle Scout award.

A member of Troop 41 chartered by the Kiwanis Club of Sikeston and First United Methodist Church of Sikeston, Palmer constructed 10 new benches for the Complex, a project which took just over a week to complete.

The son of Bill and Julie Ann Palmer, Palmer is also a member of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting's national honor society. He has previously attended National Youth Leadership Training.

For more than 100 years, the Greater St. Louis Area Council has provided programs with character development and values-based leadership training to prepare young people for life. The Greater St. Louis Area Council includes St. Louis city and county, 27 counties in eastern Missouri and 10 counties in southern Illinois, and serves more than 47,000 youth and 12,000 adult volunteers.
