Two students at Saint Francis Xavier School in Sikeston were among three statewide winners of Missouri's earthquake awareness poster contest and were honored March 18. Third grader Casey Apurado, left, and fourth grader Nora Haley, above, received certificates and a gift card from Steve Besemer, earthquake program manager, in a special ceremony at the school. In their posters, the students showed the best way for people to protect themselves in an earthquake. The students' teachers also received a gift card in honor of the students' win. The winning posters are displayed on SEMA's Web site.
