Power up

How can people live with these high electricity bills? Mine has doubled since last month and it's been warmer.

Always dry

I subscribe to the Standard Democrat and I have never had a wet paper, even when I left it out overnight. I don't understand these papers that are complaining about wet papers.

Thank you for your nice comment. Customers like you are a godsend.

Just you wait and see

I'm calling in reference to a comment, apparently by an educator, "Just the facts" on April 8. They are condemning anti-Common Core activists. And I quote, "I'm so tired of these pseudo-intellectual blog readers who have no interest in facts but became the pawns of ignorance. All citizens should read your article on March 29 and remember the people who distort the facts and those who unquestionably propagate stupidity." That's got to be an educator who is talking down to us and remember the ugly atmosphere that was complained about. This is the way we have been talked to by everybody connected to the school system in Sikeston. For whomever that is, that don't sign their name, that's the way they do, they hide because they are cowards and snipe at us through anonymity and get their shots in. For their information, we don't just read blogs. We brought Dr. Sandra Stotsky to Sikeston, Mo., to talk to anyone who would listen about Common Core. She wrote the standards on English language arts, and when it was finished, they had changed it up and messed it up so much, she wouldn't sign off on it because it wasn't an educational piece. It was a propaganda piece. So if someone is propagating ignorance, I would say it's that educator who would not even come out and listen to Dr. Sandra Stotsky. We also brought a teacher from New York who had experience for two years with Common Core when it was fully implemented. These people here don't know what it is because it's not fully implemented. But when it is, they'll find out. We brought this teacher to tell you but nobody would come and listen. She left after 17 years of teaching. If it is a teacher who put that in there, if you experience Common Core full-blown, get ready for your reviews and evaluations based purely on state test scores by your children that you never see the tests.
