SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Junior Legion picked up their second two-game sweep in as many days Thursday with wins over visiting Perryville Junior Legion.

A complete game effort from starting pitcher Brandon Hurt highlighted a 5-2 win to open the night. Hurt allowed only one earned run on eight hits and two walks while striking out 11.

Perryville got both their runs in the first inning before a four-run Sikeston rally in the bottom of the third frame put them on top for good. One final run in the fourth made up the final.

Peyton Kennard led Sikeston's offensive effort, going 2 for 3 with Camden Sapp pitching in a double and driving in two runs.

After once again allowing two first inning runs to start the second game, Sikeston scored 12 unanswered runs to down Perryville 12-2 in five innings via the mercy rule.
Two runs in the bottom of the first inning tied the game and Sikeston put up 10 runs in the third to take the lead and never look back.

Jordan Kluesner picked up the win with four innings of work where he allowed two earned runs on two hits and five walks while fanning three.

Kennard collected three walks and a hit to reach in all four plate appearances.

Kluesner helped his own cause with a 2 for 2 effort at the plate that included four RBI and a bases-loaded, bases-clearing triple.

Ben Ray drove in two runs with Nate Bolin and Sapp scoring two runs each.

On Wednesday Sikeston downed the visiting Jackson Cyclones Senior Babe Ruth team 2-0 and 10-4 respectively to give Sikeston a four game winning streak.

Now at 5-4 on the season, Sikeston will host Jackson Junior Legion Monday night at 6 p.m. at VFW Stadium in Sikeston in a double header.
