Charleston at Kelly

Records: Charleston 0-5; Kelly 1-4
Series History: Kelly leads 1-0
Last Meeting: 2014, Kelly won 36-6
Last Week: Charleston lost to NMCC 48-14; Kelly defeated Central 41-0
Outlook: Charleston has lost 16-straight games and has only scored 48 points all season but will be facing a Kelly defense that was allowing 48 points per game before last week's shutout of the Central Panthers. Offensively, Charleston has gained just 352 yards all season. Senior Tennerious Ewing has been the workhorse most of the season for the Bluejays, gaining 53 yards on 15 carries last week while completing 1 of 3 passes for 2 yards. Charleston has yet to find a passing game, throwing for just 59 yards on the season. Defensively, the Bluejays are allowing 48.6 points per game and are giving up an average of 35 points per game in the first half. Kelly had scored just 59 points in the season before exploding for 41 last week, including 34 points in the first half. Senior Maurice Davis is one of the most dangerous return men in the area, with three kickoff returns and a punt return for a touchdown. He is also getting more carries out of the backfield and has four touchdown runs and a touchdown reception on the season.

Chaffee at East Prairie

Records: Chaffee 2-3; East Prairie 3-2
Series History: Chaffee leads 45-35-3
Last Meeting: 2014, East Prairie won 44-6
Last Week: Chaffee lost to Scott City 28-14; East Prairie lost to Malden 38-20
Outlook: Chaffee fell behind rival Scott City 22-0 early last week and when it looked like it was going to be a blowout the Red Devils outscored the Rams 14-6 the last three quarters. Now Chaffee will look to build on that momentum led by freshman quarterback Landon Tenkhoff. The signal caller leads the team in rushing with 495 yards on 87 carries while completing 35 of 77 passes for 335 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions. Senior Devon Nanney has 13 catches for 179 yards and has rushed for 300 yards on 56 carries. Chaffee is averaging 17.6 points per game and allowing 35.8 points per game. Faced with the loss of their starting quarterback, Brett Ellis, East Prairie hung tough with state-ranked Malden last week. Taking over for Ellis was freshman Derez Tipler and senior Ethan Jones. Tipler completed 6 of 14 passes for 32 yards while rushing for 101 yards on 17 carries while Jones was 3 of 5 passing for 20 yards, gaining 15 yards on three carries. The star for East Prairie was speedy junior Deverence Jones who rushed for 114 yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns while also returning an interception 108 yards for a touchdown. For the season, Jones has six touchdowns with four of them coming on the ground. The Eagles are averaging 33 points per game while allowing 26.2 points per game.

Dexter at Kennett

Records: Dexter 1-4; Kennett 5-0
Series History: Dexter leads 49-35
Last Meeting: 2014, Dexter won 35-34
Last Week: Dexter lost to Caruthersville 35-28; Kennett defeated Greene County Tech, Ark. 60-27
Outlook: Dexter has defeated Kennett 15-straight times, including last season's one-point thriller, with the Indians last win over the Bearcats coming in 1999. This season though, Kennett comes in with a perfect 5-0 record and with quarterback Edward Wilson. The senior has been abusing opposing defenses all season, scoring seven touchdowns and rushing for 340 yards last week against Greene County Tech, Ark. Wilson has scored 23 touchdowns so far this season for the Indians, who are scoring 48.4 points per game, including 126 points in their last two games. Running back Jahaida Childress is the team's top-rusher not named Wilson while the Indian defense has been stout, allowing 16.6 points a game. Dexter's defense has allowed 37.4 points per game, starting several freshmen and sophomores. Offensively the Bearcats are scoring 23.6 points per game with quarterback Ethan Stevens leading the charge. The senior has rushed for 600 yards and 12 touchdowns while completing 23 of 68 passes for 539 yards and two touchdowns. Senior receiver Austin Chesser has 13 catches for 352 yards and two touchdowns. The Bearcats have been bitten by the turnover bug this season with 14 giveaways on the season. They turned the ball over three times last week against Caruthersville.

Caruthersville at NMCC

Records: Caruthersville 2-3; NMCC 1-4
Series History: NMCC leads 21-10
Last Meeting: 2014, NMCC won 27-20
Last Week: Caruthersville defeated Dexter 35-28; NMCC defeated Charleston 48-14
Outlook: Caruthersville has won two-straight after starting the season 0-3, including two one-point losses. Senior Peyton Faulkner has proved to be a nightmare for opposing defenses as the quarterback has gained 556 yards on 76 carries with 13 touchdowns. He has also completed 16 of 44 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown. Running back Rodrick Jones has gained 345 yards on 57 carries with two touchdowns while backfield mate Demarco Slaughter has gained 254 yards on 33 carries and two touchdowns. Offensively the Tigers are scoring 29.2 points per game while their defense is allowing 27.8 points per game, however, Caruthersville hasn't allowed more than 29 points since an opening week loss to Mountain View-Liberty. NMCC's defense came alive last week giving up just 14 points after allowing 218 in their previous four games. Still the Eagles are giving up 46.4 points per game while their offense is scoring just 16.2 points per contest. NMCC's 48 points last week was a season-high, as speedy junior Javarcus Word rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns. The running back has scored five touchdowns on the season while throwing for another. Quarterback Tyler Sprouse had a big week as well, rushing for 134 yards on just eight carries with two touchdowns while completing 5 of 7 passes for 48 yards and another score.

Portageville at Scott City

Records: Portageville 2-3; Scott City 3-2
Series History: Portageville leads 32-20
Last Meeting: 2014, Portageville won 40-14
Last Week: Portageville lost to Hayti 33-27; Scott City defeated Chaffee 28-14
Outlook: Portageville has dropped three-straight after opening the season 2-0. What looked like a blowout to Hayti last week, quickly changed in the second half as the Bulldogs rallied for 21-unanswered second half points. Leading the comeback was quarterback Jon Garrett Kellams. The senior has completed 64 of 121 passes for 846 yards and 13 touchdowns with only four interceptions. His favorite target is sophomore Ian Torrey who has 20 catches for 333 yards and seven touchdowns. Daniel McCray leads the Bulldog rushing attack with 362 yards, however, he was only able to gain 22 yards last week against Hayti. The Bulldogs average 32.4 points per game while their defense gives up 28.2 points per game. Scott City broke a two-game losing streak last week with win over rival Chaffee. The Rams average 27.4 points with their biggest offensive threat being Braden Cox. The junior running back has gained 452 yards on 79 carries with eight touchdowns and has also taken snaps under center, completing 11 of 19 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown. Junior quarterback Ty Wilthong is 43 of 88 for 400 yards and three touchdowns while running back Nick Bickings had a big week last week gaining 172 yards on 11 carries that included two first quarter touchdowns. The Rams defense has allowed 23.4 points per game and they have not allowed more than 14 points in any of their three wins.
