NMCC senior honored for academic excellence

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Nicholas Don Merrick from Lilbourn, Mo., has been selected to become a member of the National Society of High School Honors (NSSHS).

NSHSS Founder and Chairman Claes Nobel stated, "On behalf of NSHSS, I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice and commitment that Nicholas has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence." He added, "Nicholas is now a member of a unique community of scholars - a community that represents our very best hope for the future."

NSHASS members become lifetime members from hight school to college to career.

Nicholas has been in the New Madrid School District for 10 years and is a senior at New Madrid County Central. He plays tenor saxophone in jazz and honor band and is a member of the choir. He is a guitarist and active in his church group.

He is the son of Dave and Rhonda Ward of Lilbourn and the grandson of Brenda Hammons of Bertrand and Larry and Sue Ward of Portageville.
