Crader, O'Brien lead Sikeston Class of 2016

SIKESTON -- Academic leaders of the Sikeston High School class of 2016 were valedictorian Erin Crader and salutatorian Anniegeorgia Ferrell O'Brien.

Crader, who is the daughter of Lynn and Kathleen Crader, was a member of the marching band, jazz band, Foreign Language Club, National Honor Society, FBLA, Link Crew and the 30-Plus Club.

She participated in Feed My Starving Children and was a state competitor in FBLA accounting and business calculations, state solos and an ensemble competition.

Crader's scholarships and awards include Missouri Scholars Academy, Girls State delegate, AP Scholar, Missouri Scholars 100, Paul and Regina Myer Scholarship, Kiwanis Scholarship, National Merit Scholarship finalist, Bright Flight Scholarship, Mizzou Chancellor's Scholarship, Instrumentalist Magazine Musicianship Award, Duke Ellington Jazz Award and SPS Students of the Month in September 2015.

Crader plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in psychology.

O'Brien is the daughter of Dan and Julie O'Brien. She was the president of the National Honor Society; vice cayenne for Red Peppers; co-editor of the Bulldog Barker; leadership delegate for DECA; Student Council member; and Link Crew leader.

Her honors and achievements include University of Missouri Cornell Leadership Program, fall class of 2016; University of Missouri Chancellor's Award scholarship; Missouri Bright Flight Scholar scholarship; Gold Community Service Award for 100-plus service hours; Missouri Girls State delegate; Standard Democrat Journalism Award; and DAR Good Citizen Award.

A member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, she's served as a volunteer for Sikeston Public Schools Foundation, Sikeston Bulldog Booster Club, Bootheel Food Bank and PEO Missouri State Convention.

O'Brien, who scored a 31 on her ACT, will attend the University of Missouri in Columbia where she plans to major in business accounting.
