Volunteers come to 'beef up' Sikeston Youth Football Camp

Wednesday, July 20, 2016

SIKESTON -- Sikeston youth football camp saw a bump in volunteer coaches this year, coming from locations as far as Chicago, Ill.; Blytheville, Ark.; Paducah, Ky.; and Orlando, Fla.

From 1995-97, Mark Blissett held the most career rushing yards, until Justin Robinson broke the record two years later, as well as achieving two more records -- most rushing yards and touchdowns in a single season.

Now, former teammates from either Sikeston High School or college at Southeast Missouri State University attended this year, and their resume is just as impressive as the founders.

Mitch Fryer of Blytheville, Ark., was a tight end for SEMO and made the All-OVC team.

Riki Smith of Orlando, Fla., also played for SEMO as a running back, and now coaches at Dr. Phillips High School, a powerhouse program of elite athletes. Smith even coached the Green Bay Packers safety, Ha'Sean "HaHa" Clinton-Dix.

Brent Arnold of Paducah, Ky., played for the Sikeston Bulldogs alongside Robinson and donated the T-shirts for the youth camp.

The camp concludes today.
