Scott County Sheriff Wes Drury said deputies on May 23 were called to the Diebold Orchards property for a possible burglary in progress and found Halfacre on the property.

Upon further investigation, deputies discovered a garage door pushed off its tracks in the rear of the property and found evidence of forced entry into the building, and several items were reported stolen at the time of the incident, the sheriff said. While deputies were investigating the crime, Sumpter and Gunter were located, he said.

Halfacre is being held on a $25,000 cash or surety bond. Gunter and Sumpter are each being held on $35,000 cash or surety bonds.

The three defendants, who appeared in custody via video, were formally arraigned Tuesday and pleas of not guilty were entered for each no their behalf. A bond reduction hearing for each is set for 10:30 a.m. June 3 in Scott County Associate Division Court, according to online court records. All three remain in custody at the Scott County Jail.
