Area soccer player honored

DEXTER -- Dexter's Michael Dax McCarty was recently selected by national and regional coaches from the U.S. Soccer Federation to the Adidas All-American Team.

His selection was based on his outstanding play in Cocoa, Florida over the week surrounding Thanksgiving 2001.

Teams from all four regions of the U.S.A., approximately 72 of the most outstanding players born in the year group 1987, met for interregional play at the world renowned Cocoa Sports Complex.

He also received a call from the U.S. Soccer Federation informing him of his selection to the Under-16 U.S. National Team.

They were recently in Guadalajara, Mexico, for competition with the best under-17 teams Mexico has to offer. Travel to Holland and Costa Rica are planned for later in the year.
