MOREHOUSE -- Eight Sikeston residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident Sunday. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports at 11:40 a.m. in New Madrid County on Highway 60, one mile west of Morehouse, an accident occurred as westbound motorist Paula R. Starnes, 31, of Sikeston attempted to make a left turn from the driving lane and turned into the path of the westbound vehicle driven by Florence A. Shaw, 42, of Sikeston in the passing lane. Starnes' passenger, Deandre Starnes, 4, was ejected through the back glass of the vehicle. Paula Starnes and passenger Dyshauna Starnes, 4, received serious injuries and were taken by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. Deandre Starnes and Calab Starnes, 6, and passenger also sustained serious injuries, but were air evacuated to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Shaw and her passengers, Odell R. Thompson, 11, who was seriously injured and Kayona M. Crenshaw, 12, who was moderately injured, were taken by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center. Shaw's other passenger, Antonio Blackmon, 4, of Sikeston received minor injuries and was taken by private conveyance to Missouri Delta Medical Center.
