SIKESTON - Southeast Missouri was digging out of the heaviest snowfalls of the winter Monday, with a snowfall of 5 1/2-inches reported in Sikeston.
MATTHEWS - Mr. J.R. Boyer spent the weekend with her brother and family at Kewanee.

NEW MADRID - The New Madrid County Court has officially approved the 1964 county budget for general purposes at $298,768.75 for 1964, with an additional $37,965.85 provided for new equipment and repairs should funds be available, according to Jesse H. Wilkins, county clerk.

SIKESTON - Board of Utilities Director E.R. "Dick" Inman had good news for persons attending the Breakfast With the City today. Inman said there are no plans for an increase in utility rates at this time and "if nothing happens, I believe we're at least good for 1984."
BERNIE - The board of education of the Bernie school system has tentatively approved a bid for a 32-passenger bus from Vernon's Bus Sales of Conway, Ark. The bus will reportedly cost the school district $22,555.

BENTON - The Scott County Commission is apparently satisfied with the recent $14,000 purchase of 50-feet of land. The lot, located on Tywappity Street, west of the county jail, was sold to the commission this week by retired State Sen. John Dennis.
SIKESTON - For the first time since its original construction, the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center will expand its facilities to provide more space for occupational, speech and other forms of therapy. Ground was broken at 300 Floyd Ave. for a new 3,000 square foot expansion which will double the current size of the center.
