SIKESTON - The Sikeston Bulldogs soccer team lost to the Notre Dame Bulldogs on Tuesday 3-1.

Notre Dame and Sikeston tied in their last meeting.

"I thought we played pretty good," said Sikeston head coach Derrick Long. "I thought we played better this time. They're probably the quickest team we play. They ran right past our defenders a couple of times."

In the game, Sikeston's Adam Garrett tied Andrew Lawson's single-season goal record with his 22nd. He will have a chance to break the record on Thursday when the Bulldogs play at Cape Central at 7 p.m.

Scott Wittenborn got the scoring started for Notre Dame, netting a goal at the 8:00 mark.

Garrett tied it at the 37:00 mark on an assist from Tanner Fritz.

Tyler Cuba gave Notre Dame a 2-1 lead when he scored at the 39:00 mark.

Adam Prasanphanich gave Notre Dame a 3-1 lead at the 75:00 mark of the second half.

"We played better," said Long. "Lately we haven't been playing that great. We tried a new defensive formation and we had a couple of breakdowns where the guys didn't know what to do. Hopefully we will be able to play some better defense and get a few more goals out of Adam and Tanner."

Chris Cota had 15 saves for Sikeston out of Notre Dame's 18 shots. Sikeston (6-7-1) had 13 shots on goal.

Sikeston's junior varsity lost 2-0 to Notre Dame to fall to 4-5-1 on the season.
