Arrests solve 30 burglaries

Friday, August 20, 2004

SIKESTON -- Two adults and two juveniles from Sikeston are in custody after being arrested for their part in more than 30 burglaries.

On Aug. 13, investigators with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety received information about two juveniles who had stolen property from a local business.

Through the course of the investigation, the juveniles admitted to more than 30 Sikeston burglaries in just 2004. They also identified several adults who committed the burglaries with them and helped dispose of stolen property.

Two search warrants were served in connection with the burglaries and some stolen items were recovered. Due to the quantity of the recovered property, it may be some time before all of the victims are notified that their property has been recovered, DPS officials said.

The adults' names are being withheld pending filing of formal charges through the Scott County prosecuting attorney's office. Other suspects are also being sought in connection with the burglaries.

DPS encourages anyone with any information about this incident or any other crimes to call 471-6200 or 471-1500. All communications are confidential.
