SIKESTON - Clifford Jones, who recently received his discharge from the Navy, left last weekend accompanied by Thomas Matties and Virgil Seuvers for St. Louis, where the former has employment.

SIKESTON - Nine Memphis Boy Scouts earned a weekend as guests of farm families of the Sikeston area as well as guests of the Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo.


NEW MADRID - Sam L. Hunter, president of The Bank of New Madrid, announced that James N. Edwards has been elected cashier succeeding W.H. Coats, who died Sept. 6,1964, after serving as cashier for 17 years.

SIKESTON - The arrival of laser eye surgery to Sikeston and Missouri Delta Community Hospital has brought new hope for local residents afflicted with eye disease associated with diabetes, and for patients having glaucoma.

SIKESTON - Thousands of patients suffering from leukemia and other fatal diseases are unable to find bone marrow matches for lifesaving transplants. But area residents are being given the opportunity to help these individuals. In recognition of National Marrow Donor Awareness, Sept. 11-17, health officials are urging volunteers to share a life. Individuals are urged to have their blood tested to see if they can donate their marrow.

SIKESTON - Bob McCord was the winner of a $500 merchandise certificate donated by Sikeston Golf and Cart. The certificate was given to the person who made a hole-in-one at the Sikeston Country Club's Fund-raising Tournament conducted Aug. 27-28.
