Speakout 11/9

Tuesday, November 9, 2004

I am 45 years old, a white male and have lived in Southeast Missouri all my life. I was lucky in that I was too young to have served in the Vietnam War and too old to have served in the first Gulf War. I grew up a conservative Democrat and always voted that way until President Reagan ran. I saw a strong man with strong convictions and I also saw the Republican Party change. The Republican Party seemed to realize that strong America depended on her right to defend herself and her self-interests. The party also seemed to realize that all Americans, regardless of race or wealth, must be represented. I will never forget the events that took place on Sept. 11, 2001. We have no choice but to defend ourselves from terrorism. President Bill Clinton stood by and did nothing as Americans abroad were attacked by terrorists seven times during his administration. He slashed our military and intelligence agencies and stuck his head in the sand. You may not like President George W. Bush. I don't agree with all his policies, but we as Americans cannot try to appease our enemies. The great President FDR was very reluctant to enter World War II until the Japanese attacked us at Pearl Harbor. Thank God we did, and I thank God for all those who have fought in foreign wars to grant us our freedoms. I truly wish I was not too old to join the fight against terrorism. American soldiers are not fighting just for the people of Iraq, but fighting for our future. In my opinion, it is either fight now against the cowardly terrorists and eliminate the threats they present or pay a very costly price later. Please do not stick your head in the sand. Support our troops and remember, you cannot reason with the terrorists. God bless America.

I would like to commend the person at A&B Cleaners for their honesty in returning a valuable ring and cash and even an ink pen that was left in clothing that they dry cleaned. I thank God for their honesty and may God bless them.

Today I got a letter in the mail and it says, "Want to get a head start with a cash loan up to $2,500?" I called and asked for the details. He said I needed a car title to secure the loan. Then he tried to tell me what the payments would be and I said I didn't care about payments and asked what the interest rate would be. I had to ask him three times because it seemed like he didn't want to talk to me. Finally, he said, 44 percent interest. At that time, I called him an SOB and hung up. Isn't this great? People like him are out to beat people out of their money just in time for Christmas. They ought to tar and feather people like this and run them out of town on a rail.

Will the person who took my purse over at Stan's Market please return it to the store or somewhere so I can get it back. Keep the money. I need all my other personal items. It was taken from my grocery cart about 2:30 p.m. Nov. 2.

Despite what W.T. says, it doesn't look like American people side with him. He's not right and he needs to wake up to the fact before he departs this Earth.

This message is for CBS News' Dan Rather. Despite all your lying and false reports, President Bush has won and he will be our president for four more years. Will CBS News please find something else now to lie about?
