SpeakOut 10/18

Call 471-6636

I would like to answer the letter that called George Bush a dictator. It looks to me that the person who wrote that letter doesn't know what a dictator is.

This is in response to the article about the child getting a whipping, that the parent should have her child back. There is a difference between a whipping and a beating. This mother was hitting - if you look at the video, she was beating the child with her fist. I do not have any children. I was unfortunate, I couldn't have any. But I would love to have a child. Sometimes a child needs a whipping but not a beating. There is a difference. Apparently you must beat your child if you have any.

I just read the SpeakOut "Define spanking, beating" in the Oct. 4 paper. I think that person who called in should be investigated because if they think that woman was just spanking her child, it sure didn't look like it to me. I agree with spanking, but that looked like a beating.

This is to the person who doesn't understand the police report about the break-in. If you keep your mouth shut, people can only suspect that you're stupid. If you open your mouth, you prove it.

I just read in the Oct. 4 paper about the city wanting to clean up the lots and people's houses. I'm all for that. But we have called and complained several times over on Kinder, Harry and Russell streets and have yet to get Code Enforcement down here. I would just like to know when the city plans on coming to this area.

After having traveled through the upper midwest this summer on vacation, I am convinced that southeast Missouri and the surrounding states should join together (the farmers) and get more ethanol plants built. I saw ethanol plants in northeast Missouri, Iowa and other states. JoAnn Emerson walks a good walk and talks a good talk in with them boys in Washington but it's going to take more than that. If we can't get Ms. Emerson to produce better than that in the next to years, we'll have to vote her out and get somebody in who will. I'm tired of watching this crap she puts out. We're going to have to have alternative fuels in this country and we don't have time to play around and talk around and have meetings about it, in 20 years at the most we're really going to be hurting if we can't get the automobile people, the farmers and the ethanol people to combine to get it. Time is running out. You don't have time in your hands, Ms. Emerson and you politicians. So combine with the farmers, get the work, stop so much walk and talk. Remember, plan your work and work your plan. You're planning your work but you're failing to work your plan.

Oh, for the good old days when all we had to worry about was a sex scandal.

I found a woman's purse at a Sikeston mobile home park. I found a piece of paper inside with the name Laura and the last name begins with a C. Everything that I found in there is still there. Call me at 472-0370. We refrained from publishing the owner's last name in order to keep her identity private.

I would like to SpeakOut about a meeting they had in Miner recently where the police chief and mayor were having a discussion and the chief made the statement that they are all one big happy family. After hearing the discussion, in my opinion, it's just one big clique.

This is 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning and I've been to church. I mean I've heard the Word. This man didn't have all the loud so-called music and wasn't browbeating his people. He was preaching the word of God under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. It was all from scripture and the Holy Bible. People, we'd better get back to living holy and setting an example for our kids or we're in for disaster. Stop all the worldly programs and preach the Word. Get the Word inside of them. I agree that what they say about God looks on the inside instead of what you wear. We also have to dress so we can know the difference.
