Speakout 8-14

Wednesday, August 14, 2002

This is in regard to the front page picture of the guy with his horse, hat, rodeo buckle and the Jaycee shirt and his jeans. I noticed one thing that's missing. Mr. Cowboy, where the hell are your boots?

It's getting pretty bad when the disabled and physically challenged are constantly being harassed by a local agency that does business for them in town. Sometimes they can't make their payments or their full payments. There is one person in the office who should treat these people with respect, but unfortunately, this supervisor is crass, rude and arrogant. These customers pay to ride on public transportation. You would think these office workers would be grateful for the business, appreciate those who can't pay their whole bills and work with those who are having a tough time. Being rude doesn't help the situation any.

I guess we defeated those Prop A and Prop B taxes rather soundly. But I'm sure they'll bring them back up in one way or another. Until the politicians and MoDOT start being straight, I think we ought to vote down every new tax.

Busy signal

I tried and tried and tried to call SpeakOut the other day and couldn't get through? What's the deal? I thought you had all the bugs worked out.

Sorry, caller. Occasionally we get calls that are repeated several times. This was one of those times, which is why we suggest that SpeakOut callers write their comments down and then read what they want to say into the answering machine. You can then get more said in the time allotted and it will be less confusing for you, the caller, to say what you intend to say. Of the 59 calls recorded, all but a few were different calls and subjects. Thank you for helping SpeakOut in this manner.

I read in the paper where JoAnn's Mobile Office will visit the Bootheel. I've gone down a couple of times to visit the office. She wasn't there but they sent some man down there and he would talk to me while I was talking to him about a problem or concern I had. While I was talking to him, he would sit out there and look out the window, shake his head at me, and he was less interested in what I was talking about than the man in the moon. I never heard back from JoAnn or from the man I talked to or anything like this. Don't you think they waste a whole lot of money sending this office and this man around the state? I sure do.

You should contact Rep. JoAnn Emerson directly with your concerns. Here is how she can be reached: Rep.
