Wednesday, September 1, 2004

BROSLEY - The Delta Lady Bobcats softball team blanked Twin Rivers on the road on Tuesday afternoon with a 9-0 victory.

Delta hurler Sarah Cook was one out away from a no-hitter before allowing a single to a Twin Rivers player.

Cook finished the game with seven strikeouts, walking one and allowing one hit in seven innings.

"She pitched fantastic," said Delta head coach Laura Brown. "She finally gave that hit up in the seventh, but she almost pitched flawless. She's a good athlete and she'll do whatever job I put her at. And the defense behind her was exceptional as well."

Delta (2-1) scored three runs in the first inning and tallied another in the second to lead 4-0.

The Lady Bobcats blew the game open with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Kacie Menz led the way with three hits, including a triple and two RBIs.

Kacie Seabaugh went 2-5 with two RBIs and a double while Kayla Seabaugh went 2-4 with two RBIs and a triple. Cook helped her own cause with two hits.

The Lady Bobcats collected 11 hits in all.

Delta will take travel to play Egyptian, Ill., at 4:15 p.m. today.
