Your view: Don't rationalize drugs

Thursday, September 2, 2004

This pertains to the individual who is justifying and rationalizing his drug addiction. Drugs is a serious problem for our country. All drugs are addictive and destroy lives.

I am currently in prison because of drugs and have spent 17 of my 32 years of life in prison because of drugs. I believe instead of stiff prison sentences there should be more treatment options. I have a disease that is non-curable but treatable. Alcohol and marijuana are gateway drugs (alcohol is a drug) and that's where most teen-agers start. It only escalates from there to the more serious drugs - cocaine, meth, etc. Eighty percent of crimes committed are due to drug addiction.

You said life is more enjoyable to you on drugs. You don't have much of a life and, if you are a parent, you're not much of a parent. Drugs is the most serious problem this country has and for our kids to grow into respectable citizens, we need to continue to fight the war on drugs.
